De Bietenbouwers

Dutch farmers chapel orchestra, especially formed by conductor Ger de Roos (Boer Biet), for “Farmer’s Sunday’ of the Dutch broadcasting company KRO on Sunday October 17, 1948. After two performances with Gait Jan Kruutmoes (Kees Schilperoord), The Bietenbouwers appeared often for shows by the KRO. In 1949 they went touring with performances and broadcasts provided throughout The Netherlands and Germany. Recordings were made in Hamburg, Bremen. The chapel orchestra was also called “Rubenbauern” (Germany), “Les Cultivateurs des Betteraves” (Jan Brusse, Radio Paris) and “The Beet Diggers” (Dutch broadcasting company Wereldomroep). This is how the orchestra became internationally known.
